IR 001

Who says there isn't anything to see in Canada? Clearly you haven't looked through infrared eyes for you to be able to say that. Jeffrey Klassen's photographs show Canada's breathtaking sceneries in a different light. Achieving this effect required him to use a Tiffen 87 filter and some manual white balance for the best effect possible. Those in Black and White came directly from the camera while those in color needed some post tweaking. If you want to own one of Klassen's images you can order it for in a variety of sizes that will start at 4x6 Matte print for $4.26 up to 16x24 for $24.00. adam polselliAnother week and I'm running late on posting a photoblog.  Guess I should've just omitted that and you wouldn't have even noticed now, would you?  Whatever.

This week is a photoblog and then some - and then a little more.  I stumbled across Adam Polselli's site a year or so ago (maybe two?) and was immediately impressed with what I found.  Besides the great colors and detailed shots that Adam posts to his website/photoblog/whatever you'd like to call it, there's a wealth of information about design.  Adam's head for all things design related is pretty on point and it shows clearly in his website.

The kicker, is he's still practically a kid!  Ok, well he was a kid when I started checking out his site.  I suppose it's more a matter of me getting old, than him being young, but that's another matter.  Whatever his young age, he's extremely accomplished and competent.  Go take a read at Adam's site.  Enjoy the wonderful shots of flowers - yes, perhaps cliche, but excellent nonetheless - architecture, and black and what whatevers.

You may notice that the colors in your photographs don't always turn out the same as they were when you snapped them, or even compared to the way they look on your camera's LCD.  This may very well be because your monitor is calibrated to a different color setting than that of your camera.  Color space profiles that you have have seen are sRGB, adobe RGB, and other variations.

There's a great, in-depth review of a couple pieces of hardware (The Spyder2Express and the Huey) that will help you determine the best settings for your display.  Admittedly, this is hardware that would be more likely used by professionals, but if you're aspiring, you might check out the review and see what you need to learn (and buy).
