Sandisk 1GB product ImageYep you read it right, Office Depot is now selling Sandisk Memory Stick Pro Duo for $29.99, no mail-in rebates, no coupons, nothing but a great price. You can go to the Office Depot Product Page (link below) and pick a couple out for you camera, PSP, or any other gadget you have that uses the format.

The Sandisk stick have been tested and have faster data transfer than a Sony branded one (which is great for any PSP owner transferring large movies). Now this is a great deal (I paid more than twice that about a month after the PSP came out) but you can also get a 4GB memory stick of questionable (read fake) quality on eBay for about $50-$60, although who knows how longs that it will last you. And if something goes wrong, they don't come with the Sandisk five-year warranty.

I love how PSPupdates continually takes posts from PSPfanboy.com and never links to them. It's kinda funny, actually.

Keep up the good work, fellas.

the sony ones are all fake , but i think they work ok, my friend has one. these blue ones are sandisk ones and are not fake and have a faster write speed than the sony ones. I'm gonna buy the 4 gig sandisk ones when they come down to around 40 pounds. there was a 2 gig sandisk ultra II that went for 24 pounds this morning , thats got a faster read/write speed.

Um, Hello we link to PSPFanboy all the time. I like how your posting as a unregistered user, dont have the "guts" to post registered to stand behind your opinion? Look at the VIA are you blind? There is your source, so stop your crying.

Since your not registered, I guess I'll have to dismiss your comment as a rumor too. (wishy washy source) ;)

The size of the file obviosly has to do with how fast you transfer it, but what has a greater impact is how many files you are transfering at a time. For example, an infared hombrew application with data for 1000 remotes(say about 10MB) will take A LOT longer to transfer than a 500MB movie.

Just thought i'd point that out.:P

 » Store?

Anyone know if this deal exists in store as well, or is it only through their website?

I posted in the forums about this the last time this happened, and nobody listened to me.

YOU CAN GET IT FOR EVEN CHEAPER.

Find the price online and get a print-out of it. If it's in-store, you don't even need anything. Then, go in to Circuit City or Staples or somewhere where the item is priced even higher. Circuit City is where I went, and their 1GB Duo was priced at $70. THAT'S GOOD, because you PRICE MATCH.

You say, "Look, Office Depot's price is lower," and they will price match them 110%. That means they'll take $70 - $30 and then multiply that by 110%. In this case, $40 x 110% = $44. Then they'll subtract THAT from their original price, and sell it to you for that amount. So, $70 - $44 = $26.

The higher the item is priced, the better off you are.

Go forth.

I buyed a sandisk 4GB for 140€ and I'm damn happy with it. It's even faster than my sony 2gb (6MB/s versus 4MB/s)

this deal started today - 512mb from £10.43,
1GB ones for #20.38

Makes the #60 i spent on one last year seem rather foolish now :(
Oh well, that the wonderful world of technology for you.

about 2 or 3 months ago office depot had a sale, with 1 gigs for 30 dollars. i got mine then..

 » Son of Ah....

DAMN!
I just bought a 1 gig for $69.00 at Best Buy last week. GRRRRR!
I'm sure the prices for 1 and 2 gigs are going to plumet in the coming months as the sticks are the optional memory cards for the bare bones PS3's.

 » Dealram

Lol I've known that 1gb memory sticks were this cheap for a LONG time, but not at Office Depot. The site I go to is http://www.dealram.com/ - they don't sell memory sticks, but they give store listings and put them in order by the best prices first for all kinds of memory (SD cards, XD, whatever).... didn't know if anyone knew that or not, maybe not everyone reads popular science...

lol #21 you are one smart cookie.

Also, what the hell is squid? (sinjinn said, "1 gig is not enough. all those iso's...comics, mp3's...you need a four gig . the only problem is theyre a 100 squid....") I have no idea lol

   by Qwerty (Unregistered) - 2006-07-26
 » Hmm...

Actually, the cheapest 1GB memory stick PRO DUO listed on dealram right now is $44, up $5 from the last time I checked, so I guess Office Depot is the best place to buy from right now.

Wait a while, and the price will go back down I bet. $44 still isn't bad tho... I still like #21's method... I just wish I had a circuit city to go to lol.
