4GB Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo

Finally, Sony Europe have announced that the 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo will hit shelves in September. The 4GB micro memory stick, compatible with Sony's PSP as well as digital cameras and other Sony products, has been available for a while in other territories and will be a welcome addition to the Memory stick range for European PSP owners. According to the Sony press release, the 4GB stick can hold up to 1000 MP3 songs, 3000 digital photos in 5 megapixel resolution or more than 9 hours of MPEG-4 video, which probably means it'll hold around 2/3 of that.

The new 4GB stick will come in a new package, presumably to tear apart differences between fake sticks from auction site eBay and legitimate ones, as well as a free Memory Stick Pro adaptor and a 5 year warranty for approximately €170 (approximately US$274). Not bad if you ask me, but they have probably been priced to compete with Sandisk's 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo. I want one, and I'll get whatever one is cheapest: Sony or SanDisk!

Something around 215 bucks would be my guess.

 » Over priced, too late.

The Sandisk 4GB version is better (performs faster) and cheaper than the Sony. I wonder why Sony is so late in bringing out these MS pro duos. Again, Sandisk is going to release the next 8GB version months before Sony does.

are you trying to be cool with such an idiotic remark? besides sony's warning does hold true, poorly made batteries will explode, leak, catch fire, and/or damage your psp, especially with the risk you provide yourself every time you charge the battery. but in truth, their saving their own asses when you damage your psp with a third party battery. Also, watch out for fake duo pro sticks. Sony doesnt really care(or shouldnt for the most part) as long as the competition provides business for thier memory card format and THEY"RE SAFE.

Might as well get Four 2G memory sticks, double the storage for the same price, not exactly a big hassle to carry around.

 » ZOMG #22 you're dumb

You're supposed to ask the seller if the memory tsick is real or fakje before buying , they won't lie cause sellers are scared of negative feedback

 » Hmm

Just so you know, this is the largest that the PSP will support - It just can't address anymore than 4gb.

In Australia, the cheapest price possible is $329 via a staticice.com.au check :/
When they are under $250 though, I'm gettin' one! And not a sony, but a sandisk... haha

 » compatibility

no the 4gb and 8gb mem sticks arent compatible with firmware 1.5, in fact they dont work with any firmware currently released. Sony will release a new firmware so that larger mem sticks can be used.

   by pspsmallz (Unregistered) - 2006-07-10
» actually you can use the 4 gb stick on all firmwares just to let you know
